This rope is invisible when using night vision glasses. When a ray of light is projected onto an object, it reflects it. The infrared treatment makes it possible to "control" the reflectance (the reflection of this ray) and thus to be in a range of wavelength that will not be detectable e.g. with night vision binoculars.
